Frequently Asked Questions

What does the free initial consultation actually involve?

It is a genuine conversation — not a sales pitch. Kevin listens to your matter, gives you initial guidance on your position and options, and tells you honestly whether and how KDC Legal can help. There is no charge and no obligation to proceed.

What is a fixed-fee scoping session and do I need one?

A scoping session is most useful for larger or more complex matters where you need to understand the full scope and cost before committing. Kevin analyses your situation and produces a written roadmap — the legal issues, the recommended approach for each stage, and the fixed fee for each.

Do I deal with Kevin directly or will I be passed to someone else?

You deal with Kevin directly throughout your matter. There are no junior lawyers, no paralegals, and no handoffs. The person you speak to in the first consultation is the person handling your matter from start to finish.

Can we help if proceedings have already started?

Yes. KDC Legal represents clients at every stage — whether you are seeking early advice to prevent a matter escalating, responding to an enforcement notice, or already in proceedings before a court or tribunal.

What areas of Queensland do you service?

KDC Legal serves clients across South East Queensland, including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, and surrounding regions. Many matters can be handled remotely where in-person attendance is not required.

How do we approach regulatory matters differently from other lawyers?

Kevin spent 12 years inside Brisbane City Council's enforcement and litigation team — he understands how regulators operate internally, what their priorities are, where their processes have pressure points, and how to engage with them strategically. He also trained compliance officers and built decision-making processes, which means he understands exactly how regulators exercise their discretion.

What does it cost to get started?

The initial consultation is free. For matters where a scoping session is appropriate, a fixed fee applies — you will know the cost upfront before agreeing to proceed.

Are you a member of the Queensland Law Society?

Yes. Kevin is a member of the Queensland Law Society and holds a current Queensland practising certificate.
